Journeying in Faith Amid Polarization | Brian Robinette & Fr. Ken Himes
What is the role of the Church in the age of polarization? What resources can our Catholic faith offer to heal fierce partisanship of our times? How might the sacramental imagination and wisdom of Catholic Social Teaching transform the "us" vs. "them" mentality that holds so many in its grip?
It is tempting to feel fatalistic about the growing polarization around us, but there are good reasons for hope. This is what this latest issue of C21 Resources magazine means to inspire.
Join us for a conversation with the guest editor, Brian Robinette, Associate Professor of Theology at Boston College, and Fr. Ken Himes, O.F.M., Professor Emeritus of Theology at Boston College and one of the featured authors in this issue.

Mr Groome, you & your co- author Schussler Fiorenza and your “wacky” theology is what ruined catholic education. You were supposed hand down the tradition given to you. Your experiment failed. Your mission of dismantling the faith to prep it for the one-world religion was a fait d’accomplis but many generations of catholics were robbed. God help you! 👎🏻

Every female theologian I have ever heard address this issue, whether Protestant or Catholic, uses the same arguments. There is no evidence that the women were at the last supper or during the Olivet Discourse. There is no evidence that Phoebe preached to the church in Rome. There is no named female elder of any church in the NT. Whether or not Junia is male or female is a linguistic mystery, and whether he/she was a apostle is a hermeneutical question not at all clear in Scripture. What is clear is that there is a Patriarchy and it exists in the Godhead, in our relationship to Christ, in the church, and in the family. It has existed since creation. We may not like it, but it is true. It was and is God's plan. It amazes me that theologians will interpret Gal 3:28 literally and Gen 1-3 allegorically. A third grader could understand the plain meaning of both texts. Woman were and are critical to Christ's mission and church life. Only a neanderthal would deny it. It is also true that women and men play different roles in the church and family while being equal. Roles are given by God for the good of humankind so that social structures will work. It is the way it is whether we believe it or not.

58:12 “what we are going to need is a new spirituality of communion” … so very true. I think this 2010(!) analysis is informative and encouraging and gives us guidance for what synodality should be aiming for today. Worth listening to the entire clip, the discussion on “both and”, rather than “either or” is particularly noteworthy too. Thank you for posting.

18:55... believe me you can be a white man, even with 10 academic degrees, and still be poor... poverty has nothing to do with color of your skin or your education... I know white bishops in Eastern Europe who were highly educated but the best job they could get was a tram driver (during cold war)... ask Christians in Pakistan, what job they can get... you think like a liberal CNN American (who lived spoiled life all her life)...and you even put down vow of chastity of diocesan priests to your redefinition advantage.. where did you got your blurry definitions of Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience from?...from which Church Document?.....otherwise, almost all you are saying is just, like your opinion man... says Dude Lebowski...I just wonder how far it is your presentation misleading... you glorify religious life and put down the priesthood... just remember: vows or religious life are never an end but only a means to protect your hands from grabbing the hold of evil... Priesthood is a sacrament, Religious life is not a sacrament...Priesthood is primarily for the benefit and service of others, Religious life is primarily for your spiritual life benefit ... please think about it... you have 7 academic degrees.. please, get one more.. to correct the half truths that you are saying... especially your crazy stuff about the rationale, history, development of Christian religious life... 7 degrees and still d** ... sad...you are an embarrassment to us white highly educated Jesuits.. there must be a difference between being educated and having degrees..

I just hope that that kind and helpful German Benedictine in the chapel that you mention at 12' will never have to witness the laughter he excited when you talk about how he was helping you to find what you had been looking for a long time. Humour is a wonderful thing, but German bashing is not, especially not in intellectual places like Boston College. Most Germans have at least a basic command of English, many speak it very well and even know one or more other foreign languages. Pity, I like so much how you emphasize tolerance and love.
